World's Fastest Human Calculator · Founder, Bhanzu

Neelakantha Bhanu holds the world record as the Fastest Human Calculator. He founded Bhanzu with one mission: to eliminate math anxiety and help every child discover the joy of mathematical thinking. The Bhanzu curriculum — refined through 60+ iterations — is built on his belief that understanding "why" always beats memorising "how."

Why Parents Search for a "Math Tutor Near Me"

📝

A slipping report card

It usually starts with a math grade that's quietly sliding. The school moves on to the next chapter, but your child never quite caught the last one — and the gap keeps widening week after week.

💪

Homework battles

Homework hour has turned into a standoff. The frustration isn't really about the worksheet — it's that nobody has explained the idea in a way that finally clicks for your child.

💬

"I'm just bad at math"

The quietest reason of all. A child who once enjoyed numbers now says they're "just bad at it." That sentence is rarely true — but left alone, it becomes a belief.

🔍

Searching for relief, not a tutor

When parents type "math tutor near me," they're really searching for relief — someone with patience, time, and the ability to see what's actually going wrong in their child's thinking.

"The instinct to look locally is natural. But the search itself almost always runs into the same wall — the best teachers simply aren't down your street."

Stop searching by postcode. Book a free demo class with one of our top 2% math tutors — matched to your child, not to your map.

Inside Bhanzu Tutoring

A Bhanzu tutor isn't a graduate with a notebook. Your child gets a complete, structured programme — built by the World's Fastest Human Calculator — with a diagnostic, a curriculum, a method, and a tutor who stays with them. Here's what's actually behind the screen.

LEVEL 0 DIAGNOSTIC Where Your Child Is Gap Actual Grade

The Level 0 Diagnostic

Before the first real lesson, your child's tutor runs a quiet, no-judgement diagnostic to find the actual foundation — not the school grade on paper. A good tutor never jumps straight into the syllabus; this one step tells your tutor the exact gap to close first.

🔍 Start from where they actually are
MATH WIZARD · 18 MONTHS Foundations · arithmetic mastery Concepts · algebra & geometry Application · real-world maths 150 sessions · non-linear sequence

The Math Wizard Curriculum

Your tutor doesn't improvise from the school textbook. They teach an 18-month, 150-session curriculum built by Neelakantha Bhanu Prakash. It's non-linear — it follows the logical progression of how a young brain learns math, which is often very different from the textbook order. The result is deeper understanding and faster progress.

📚 Built for how children actually learn
1 TUTOR · 6 STUDENTS Tutor Small enough to know every child

Small Batches of 6

A 1:1 tutor is expensive; a coaching room of 25 is anonymous. Bhanzu sits in the sweet spot — just 6 students per tutor. Small enough that your tutor knows every child's strengths and gaps, large enough that there's a real classroom dynamic and a peer group. Individual attention without the individual price tag.

👥 One tutor, six students — always
SAME TUTOR · 18 MONTHS M1 M6 M12 M18 Same Tutor No rotating strangers, no restarts

The Same Tutor, Every Session

No rotating roster of strangers. Your child keeps the same tutor for the full programme, in the same time slot each week. Your tutor remembers where your child started, where they struggled, and where it suddenly clicked — the relationship that turns a tutor into a mentor your child trusts.

💬 Continuity is the secret ingredient
CONCEPT FIRST, METHOD SECOND 1. WHY does it work? 2. HOW do we do it? 3. PRACTICE until fluent Real understanding, not memorised rules

Concept-First, Story-Led Teaching

The thing a great tutor does that the school teacher couldn't: start with why. Every topic opens with a story, a real-world question, a visual model — the method comes second, the practice third. Children who learn the concept first remember the rule because it makes sense, long after the school version is forgotten.

🧠 The "why" before the "how"
BRAIN GYM · PRACTICE Unlimited Problems Between sessions, the practice never stops

Brain Gym — Practice Between Sessions

A local tutor leaves a worksheet and disappears until next week. Bhanzu gives your child Brain Gym — an unlimited bank of problems calibrated to their exact level that keeps adapting as they improve. Practice that gets harder as they get better, without the boredom of identical sheets.

💪 Practice that gets smarter with them
BHANZU BUDDY · AI DOUBT SOLVER Stuck? Ask Bhanzu Buddy Homework help, any hour, any topic

Bhanzu Buddy AI Doubt-Solver

Your tutor can't be on call at 9 PM — but Bhanzu Buddy can. It's an AI doubt-solver trained on the Bhanzu curriculum that walks your child through a stuck problem with guiding questions instead of just handing over the answer. Tutor-style help between sessions, on demand.

🤖 Help that teaches, not just answers
CLASSMATES · ACROSS 20+ COUNTRIES 🌐 🇺🇸 🇮🇳 🇬🇧 🇦🇪 🇸🇬 🇦🇺 A peer group a local tutor can't offer

A Global Cohort, From Your Home

A local tutor means your child learns alone — no peers, no classroom dynamic, no sense of how they stack up. At Bhanzu, your child's classmates are in Dubai, Singapore and London, in the same live session, hearing the same explanation. The right radius for the best tutor isn't 5km. It's the whole world.

How to Find Good Math Tutoring in Your Area

01
🎓

Real teaching credentials

A college student who scored well isn't a math teacher. Look for a degree in math, engineering, economics, or physics — and real teaching experience.

02
📚

Grade specialisation

Teaching Class 3 multiplication and Class 9 quadratics need different skills. Generalist tutors often fall apart at the extremes.

03
🔍

A diagnostic first

A good tutor spends session one finding the actual gap. If they jump straight into the school syllabus, walk away.

04
💬

References that matter

Not "marks improved." Ask other parents what changed in their child — the confidence, the attitude, the curiosity.

05
🧠

A clear methodology

Can they explain how they teach? "I cover the syllabus and give practice" isn't teaching — it's babysitting with math.

Find a tutor who passes all five checks within 5km and you're lucky. Most parents don't. Bhanzu meets all five — see it live.

What If the Best Math Tutor Isn't Down the Street?

The most exceptional math teachers in the world aren't concentrated in your neighbourhood — they're scattered across cities, countries, and time zones. The question was never "who's nearby?" It's "who's the best — and can I get them on a video call twice a week?"

Tutoring, Reimagined

Bhanzu doesn't compete with local tutors. We replace the entire model.

Every Bhanzu tutor is selected through a 2% acceptance rate, holds a degree in math, engineering, economics, or physics, and trains 100+ hours in the Bhanzu pedagogy before teaching a single child. Your child gets a world-class tutor in their own room, on your laptop — no commute, no "is the tutor sick today?", no surprise no-show. Just consistent, exceptional teaching.

The local trap
A Small, Random Talent Pool
Your area might have ten tutors — mostly part-time graduates. The genuinely exceptional teachers are rare anywhere, and the odds of one living within driving distance are low.

The hidden cost
Experience Gets Expensive
An experienced local tutor runs ₹800–1500/hour — ₹1.5–3 lakh a year for twice-weekly sessions — plus commute time built into the fee. Bhanzu delivers a top 2% tutor at roughly ₹400 a session.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fair concern. The short answer is: in-person tutoring isn't inherently better — it's just familiar. What actually matters is the quality of the teacher and the quality of the teaching method. A weak in-person tutor is worse than a brilliant online one. Bhanzu also operates an in-person centre in McKinney, Texas — and we're expanding. But for families outside that area, our online classes deliver the same teaching philosophy with global peers.

We're honest here: Bhanzu is not exam coaching. We build deep maths foundations across an 18-month curriculum. If your child needs short-term exam revision, a local tutor might serve you better. If you want your child to understand maths properly for life — and watch their exam scores rise as a byproduct — that's our work.

We re-match. No question. Tell us within the first 5 sessions and we'll move your child to a different Bhanzu teacher who fits better. We track this — about 5% of children get re-matched in their first month. After that, almost nobody asks for a switch.

Bhanzu's flagship Math Wizard programme (18 months, 150 sessions) works out to approximately ₹400 per session — about half the cost of an experienced local tutor, with a teacher selected from the top 2% globally. Other shorter programmes are available.

Yes. We encourage it, especially in the first few sessions. The demo class is also fully visible to you — you watch the teacher, the curriculum, and the dynamic with your child, and decide for yourself.
