The short answer

A math curriculum maps what a child learns each school year — from counting in kindergarten to calculus in high school. Across the US, India, the UK, Canada, Australia and the GCC, the core arc is the same; the framework name, the pace and the order differ. This page links to a full breakdown for every grade and every country, so you can find your child's exact skills in seconds.

The universal arc

Every country teaches the same journey, in the same order, under different names — and what changes is when each idea appears and what it's called, not the staircase itself.

Counting Place value The four operations Fractions & decimals Ratios & integers Algebra Functions Geometry & trigonometry Calculus

A child who understands why at each step finds the next one natural. A child who only memorises finds the staircase gets steeper every year.

How math curriculum differs by country

Pick your country for the shorthand

The arc is universal; the framework, pace and labels differ. Here's the one-glance version for each system — then open any grade page for the detail.

🇺🇸

United States

Framework: Common Core State Standards (CCSS), full or partial in 41 states; Texas, Virginia and Florida use their own closely related standards. Grades Kindergarten–12, in elementary (K–5), middle (6–8) and high school (9–12).

The shorthand: counting to 120 and place value early, fractions as numbers from Grade 3, algebra foundations in middle school, named high-school courses from Algebra 1 to Calculus.

🇮🇳

India

Framework: CBSE / NCERT under NEP 2020's 5+3+3+4 structure and NCF-SE 2023. New reasoning-first books are rolling out — Joyful Mathematics (Classes 1–2), Maths Mela (3), Ganita Prakash (6), with 4, 5, 7, 8 following and Ganita Manjari for Class 9 in 2026-27. ("Class" = "Grade.")

The shorthand: activity- and reasoning-led, tables built by logic, board exams at Class 10 and 12.

🇬🇧

United Kingdom

Framework: National Curriculum — EYFS (Reception), Key Stages 1–4, then post-16. Years 1–13.

The shorthand: deep number sense in Reception, fractions from Year 1, all tables by Year 4, GCSE at 16, A-Level after.

🇨🇦

Canada

Framework: Education is provincial; Ontario's 2020 curriculum (Grades 1–8, six strands) and the de-streamed Grade 9 (MTH1W) lead. Kindergarten–Grade 12.

The shorthand: six strands including coding and financial literacy from Grade 1, one common Grade 9 course, then senior pathways.

🇦🇺

Australia

Framework: Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 (Foundation–Year 10) plus senior secondary (Years 11–12). Six strands.

The shorthand: fewer topics taught in greater depth, counting to 120 early, four senior maths subjects by ambition.

🇦🇪

GCC

Framework: There is no single GCC-wide standard — national MOE frameworks plus British, American and IB curricula in private and international schools, overseen by regulators such as Dubai's KHDA and Abu Dhabi's ADEK.

The shorthand: match your child's school system (British, American or IB) and follow the matching grade pages.

The Bhanzu difference

One thing decides it all: the why

We've had a wonderful experience with this online math class. My daughter genuinely looks forward to each session. Since she started, I've noticed a clear improvement in her grades and her attitude toward math — she's more confident solving problems and even practises on her own. Highly recommend it to any parent.

My 7-year-old daughter finished 6 modules already and is surprising us with her maths — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, shapes and measurement. She's now ahead of all her friends in class and excited to complete the rest. Highly recommended for all parents.

Our kids, 6 and 7 years old, can now multiply multiple digits by a single digit after just 4–5 months of Bhanzu lessons. They learned to add, subtract and multiply in multiple ways, so they have a firm understanding of the concepts. The teachers are all very kind and patient.

Questions parents ask

FAQs

What is a math curriculum?+
A math curriculum is the planned sequence of what a child learns in math each school year — the topics, skills and the order they're taught in. It runs from counting in kindergarten to algebra, geometry and calculus in high school.
Is the math curriculum the same in every country?+
The core arc is the same everywhere — counting, operations, fractions, algebra, calculus — but the framework name, the pace and the order differ. The US uses Common Core (mostly), the UK its National Curriculum, India NCERT, Canada provincial curricula, and Australia its Version 9.0. Use the country filter to see your child's exact version.
How do I find what my child should be learning this year?+
Use the grade index above. Each grade page lists the full skill set, compares it across six countries, and names the one make-or-break idea for that year.
What's the most important thing in any math curriculum?+
That a child understands why, not just how. Memorised procedures fade and don't transfer; understanding compounds. It's the difference between a child who remembers math and one who can actually use it.
Does Bhanzu teach the whole math curriculum?+
Bhanzu's program runs UKG through Grade 10 — the foundational and middle years where math confidence is built or lost, plus the Grade 9–10 fundamentals that high school depends on.
